Coal Mining
Project Phase
Mine Closure & Environmental Compliance Stage
Progressive Reclamation & Environmental Management is a vital post-mining stage aimed at restoring mined land, ensuring environmental compliance, and achieving sustainable land use. Activities focus on reshaping overburden (OB) dumps, topsoil conservation, plantation, and monitoring mine closure obligations.
Reshaping and contouring of overburden dumps to restore natural topography, reduce erosion, and stabilize slopes. Engineering techniques such as benching, slope grading, and compaction are applied to prevent landslides and enhance long-term land safety.
Collection and redistribution of topsoil over reclaimed areas to maintain soil fertility. Soil preparation, nutrient enrichment, and layering ensure the land is suitable for vegetation growth and supports ecological restoration.
Implementation of green cover through tree planting, grassing, and native species afforestation. Continuous monitoring, irrigation, and maintenance ensure plantation survival and contribute to carbon sequestration, biodiversity enhancement, and landscape aesthetics.
Ensuring adherence to statutory mine closure plans, environmental clearances, and monitoring post-mining water quality, air quality, and land stability. Regular reporting and audits are conducted to confirm compliance and certify sustainable reclamation.
