Description

Overburden (OB) removal is a critical phase in opencast coal mining operations. It involves systematic removal of soil and rock layers above the coal seam to enable safe and efficient coal extraction.

1. Marking of Drilling Pattern

Accurate marking of drilling grids as per approved mine plan and blasting design to ensure optimal fragmentation.

2. Drilling of Blast Holes

Deployment of high-capacity drilling machines to create blast holes of required depth and diameter.

3. Charging & Controlled Blasting

Safe charging of explosives and execution of controlled blasting operations in compliance with statutory norms.

4. Excavation & Transportation

Excavation of blasted overburden using shovels and excavators, followed by transportation through dumpers to designated OB dumps.

5. Scientific Dump Formation & Slope Stabilization

Systematic dump formation with proper benching, slope angle control, drainage management, and environmental safeguards.
