Description

Coal Stockyard Management is a critical operational control stage that ensures proper storage, grade integrity, moisture control, and fire prevention before final dispatch. Effective management safeguards coal quality and prevents financial losses due to contamination, waterlogging, or spontaneous heating.

1. Grade-wise Stacking

Systematic stacking of coal based on grade parameters such as GCV, ash content, and seam origin. Clear demarcation, stack coding, and FIFO management prevent cross-mixing and ensure accurate dispatch as per contractual specifications.

2. Drainage Management

Proper stockyard slope design, peripheral drainage channels, and stormwater diversion systems are maintained to prevent water accumulation, control moisture levels, and protect coal quality especially during monsoon seasons.

3. Fire Prevention & Quality Preservation

Implementation of spontaneous heating monitoring, controlled stack height, temperature checks, and preventive firefighting measures to avoid fire risks. Regular sampling, contamination control, and stack reconciliation ensure preservation of coal grade and quantity.
